We love Walla Walla!
So nice, they named it twice!
Welcome to Walla Walla!
A delightful little city in the southeast corner of Washington, Walla Walla is known for onions, wine, the state prison, Whitman College, and, of course, being Payton’s home for almost two years!
We hope you give yourself time and leeway to explore the city and its surrounding area. The map displays some of our favorite wineries, shops, breweries, parks and more. If you click the square icon in the upper left hand corner you can view our recommendations as a list.
Getting Around:
There are many stores, restaurants, and tasting rooms to check out downtown and the surrounding neighborhoods are explorable by legs (or equivalent). One of our favorite things to do in Walla Walla is grab coffee and walk around the neighborhoods adjacent to Whitman College and visit our friend the tortoise in Pioneer Park!
To get farther afield a car is required.
While rideshares and taxis do exist, they can sometimes be spotty. If a day full of tastings is on the itinerary there are a number of solid wine tour/chauffeuring operators.
Visit Walla Walla has a few resources here.
Regarding Tastings:
If you are going tasting, reservations are often required and usually recommended. At the very least, call ahead before you go! Wineries often are unable to accommodate walk-ins.
